The case of Cynthia Brown is one of great interest to me personally, and I think it is important in informing the IYLP, in that it highlights the incredible shortcomings of the youth criminal justice program in the US. The New York Times published a very well-written, and compelling article about the situation which gives a solid amount of context.
I think Cynthia Brown, her situation, and the light it shone on the criminal justice process in Tennessee, are all valuable contributions to the greater discourse on the necessity of criminal justice reform for youth in America.
